Farmers have been urged to keep tractors out of sight when not in use.
Thieves have stolen sophisticated manoeuvring equipment from tractors at a North Wales farm. Police are investigating the raid of GPS devices in Wrexham.
North Wales Police reported on their Rural Crime Team Facebook page that the intruders struck Sontley earlier this week. The value of the haul has not been revealed, but it is “high tech”.
NWP posted: “We received a report that sometime overnight between midnight on Tuesday March 12th and 3.30am on Wednesday March 13th, five tractors were broken into on a farm in the Sontley area, near Erddig. It is reported a number of high-tech global positioning systems (GPS) on each of the tractors were stolen.”
PC Chris James of the NWP Rural Crime Team said: “This equipment can be costly and forms an essential part of the farmer’s work, which has resulted in his day-to-day operations being hugely disrupted. We believe the person responsible for taking this equipment knew what they were looking for, so I am urging farmers to remove similar equipment whenever possible and keep machines out of sight when not in use.
