There is no doubt about it rural crime is unfortunately here to stay. Incidents are skyrocketing according to insurance companies.

This affects us all even if you have no connection to farming with the cost of rural theft estimated to be over £41.5m in the UK alone someone has to pay which is the public with higher costs for farm-produced foods as the insurance to the farmer is put up the farmer has somehow to recover his costs.
This comes at a time when farmers are already feeling the pressure from soaring inflation costs, energy price hikes, and increased input costs, and as a result, has left many feeling vulnerable.

You can help combat rural crime.
If you are in the countryside and you think something looks suspicious around farm buildings or suspicious activity in fields near machinery report it to the farmer or the police. The farmer and police will be happy that you are vigilant and it could help prevent a crime. 
Rural crime does not just affect farmers but anyone who lives in the countryside.
Your garden shed or garage where you keep your garden strimmer or if you are lucky enough to have a ride-on lawnmower even small hand tools are fair game for thieves. 

If you can afford it have installed CCTV 360-degree video and motion detector cameras. Security gates can slow the thieves down. Let’s do our best to make life difficult for anyone who thinks they have a right to your property.
