Well, the sun was out on Saturday, and so were the people.
It was a really great day out. We arrived at 9 am, and the traffic was starting to build even then.
Lots to see and plenty of things to keep the kids and adults happy. Some of the farm machinery looked small in the distance, but as you moved closer, you appreciated the size of some of these new machines; the tyres cost a small fortune just for one, never mind four!
We had a long chat with the team from “Operation HAWKEYE”, which for those who do not know, is part of the Northumbria Police Rural Crime Team.
The Northumbria fire brigade was there with several appliances, and the aerial platform was fully extended; the people standing on the caged platform had one hell of a view over the showground and beyond the marvellous Northumberland countryside.
The ambulance service had vehicles on display as well the mountain rescue teams.
I enjoyed the fly-casting demonstrations. As a previous owner of a country store, we also sold fishing equipment apart from everything to do with the countryside. I could watch someone fly-casting all day.
The number of stallholders had a good mix of goods which is what you look to expect to find at country shows. These shows attract the unique products which you do not always find on the high street, which I like to see.
Our next country show will be the Wensleydale show which is in August.
